Gabriele GombiBassoon

Spot on: a deep love for water and a warm and soft sound

Born in Italy in 1984, Gabriele Gombi received bassoon lessons from Franco Fusi and Marco Postinghel. He studied in Basel with Sergio Azzolini, with Carlo Colombo (Lausanne) and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Donna Agrell.

He has performed as principal bassoonist in various orchestras, including La Cetra Baroque Orchestra, Il Giardino Armonico, Kammerorchester Basel, Camerata Bern, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Spira Mirabilis and Geneva Camerata.

Gabriele Gombi has won the position of principal bassoonist at the English National Opera of London and Covent Garden Royal Opera House, where he worked in this capacity from 2008 to 2012. In 2015 he took on a lectureship in bassoon at the Conservatoire de Neuchâtel and since 2018 he has been principal bassoonist in the Ensemble Symphonique de Neuchâtel.
