Charlie FischerTimpani

Spot on: hitting the spot as a timpanist

Born in St. Johann in Tyrol, Charlie Fischer works as a freelance percussionist and timpanist, covering the entire stylistic spectrum from baroque and classical music to various contemporary trends like hardly any other musician. In all these areas he performs worldwide with the most renowned ensembles of the respective style: Concentus Musicus Wien, Europa Galante, I Barocchisti, Les Passions de L'Âme, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Münchner Kammerorchester, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and many others. He is a member of the Camerata Salzburg and the Freiburger Barockorchester.

For many years he has devoted himself not only to jazz but also to so-called experimental and improvised music. In doing so, he works with artist colleagues such as Haimo Wisser, Burkhard Stangl, Franz Koglmann, Ernesto Molinari, Florian Bramböck, Leszek Zadlo, Randy Brecker, Barry Guy, Gunther Schneider and Radu Malfatti.

He was awarded the Emil Berlanda Prize by the Province of Tyrol.
