Denis Dafflon was born in Fribourg (CH). He began his tuition as a student at the Conservatory of his native town. He studied the horn with Claudio Pontiggia and Matteo Ravarelli. In July 2009, he obtained a Teaching Diploma for horn at the HEMU-Lausanne. He continued his training at the Musik-Akademie Basel in Christian Lampert’s class and in 2011 he obtained a Master of Performance with, as a secondary branch, the study of the natural horn at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Thomas Müller’s class.
In 2012, Denis Dafflon took up a permanent position with the Berne Symphony Orchestra. He also performs with other renowned ensembles such as the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Zurich Opera Orchestra, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and Festival Strings Lucerne.
Denis Dafflon has been solo horn with the Orchestre de Chambre Fribourgeois since 2020. He also plays the natural horn in various early music ensembles. He is also an active chamber musician.
