Spot on: Positive attitude, hearty dishes, woollen clothes mended with love

Irene is a member of La Spagna, with whom she recently released the CD «The Seven Last Words by Haydn-Barbieri», as well as of the Francisco de Goya Quartet, which played the famous Stradivari Quartet of the Spanish Royal Family in April 2023. Irene plays with ensembles such as Les Passions de l ́Âme or Musiciens du Louvre.

Irene began her musical career in Cantabria and then moved to Madrid to study at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía with Prof. Zakhar Bron. In 2009 she received the soloist diploma at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid. After showing a great interest in historically informed performance, she studied baroque violin at the Conservatoire de Toulouse with Prof. Gilles Colliard. In Toulouse she also studied viola da gamba as a minor subject. She then further specialised with a Master's degree in Baroque violin at the Haute École de Musique de Genève with Prof. Florence Malgoire, as well as with Prof. Guido Balestracci on the viola da gamba. She has participated in the Jeune Orchestre Atlantique, the Jeune Orchestre Européen Hector Berlioz and the Orchestre Français des Jeunes Baroque. She has played with conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Leonardo García Alarcón, José Luis López Cobos, Sir Colin Davis, François-Xavier Roth or Jordi Savall. Between 2011 and 2014, she was a teacher at the Conservatorio de Torrelavega, Spain, and coach of the violin section in the youth orchestra of Cantabria, JOSCAN, under the direction of conductor Jaime Martín. After teaching at the Conservatoire de Fribourg for several years, Irene pursues an active concert career and teaches at the Musikschule Konservatorium Bern.
