The life of Alfred Einstein (1880 - 1952), the foremost Jewish Mozart expert who was responsible for the third revision of the Köchel catalogue, is representative of numerous musicologists and their fate during the National Socialist dictatorship: from respected to outcast; the only way out – exile in the USA. Musicologist Prof Dr Cristina Urchueguía presents the thrilling story of his life, which she has recently reappraised.
